The short version

The most secluded of the Keowee communities, on a Jack Nicklaus course. More driving, more privacy, and a lake week that looks nothing like a Glassy week under the same membership.

How it lives

Keowee Falls and Keowee Vineyards feel more secluded than the mountain communities and require more driving; a grocery run takes planning. In return the lake is the whole point. Density, buyer profile and proximity to the amenities differ between Falls, Vineyards and Springs, and so do their resale patterns, so the three are not interchangeable even though they share a shoreline and a club. A Keowee Falls owner and a Glassy owner belong to the same club and live very different weeks.

A day here

A day at Keowee Falls

Twenty-five hundred acres, twenty miles of private shoreline and the most secluded cove on the lake. The day here is quieter than at Springs, and the errands take planning. Both are the point.

  1. Morning

    Falls Creek through seven holes

Jack Nicklaus' Signature course, 7,171 yards from the back, was named to Golf Magazine's Top 10 New Private Courses when it opened. Falls Creek winds through seven of the holes, with the elevation changes and long par threes Nicklaus is known for.

  2. Midday

Ten miles of trail, and the falls

The community is named for its waterfalls, and ten miles of nature trails, easy to hard, cross Falls Creek on the way to them. The Wellness Center has a heated zero-entry pool and a spa menu; four lighted Har-Tru courts and new pickleball courts sit beside it.

  3. Afternoon

    Boat to the Beach Club

Falls has no beach club of its own. You boat about ten minutes to the one at Keowee Springs, on the same membership, or put in at Devils Fork State Park for a Lake Jocassee afternoon, the only public access to that lake.

  4. Evening

    The porch over Falls Creek

The clubhouse porch has rocking chairs and fireside meals looking over Falls Creek and most of the course. Outside the gate, Crave Kitchen on Highway 11 in Salem is the table we book, dinner only, Tuesday through Sunday, with the Il Mercato market under the same roof.

  5. Sunday

    The waterfall run

SC 130 north to NC 281 is an hour of mountain road, past Upper Whitewater Falls at 411 feet. Or coffee on the dock and a slow morning on Ram Cat Alley in Seneca.

  6. What to weigh

    The furthest cove from services

Nearest full grocery and hospital are in Pickens or Seneca, half an hour and more. North and South plats confuse first-time buyers, so ask which side a listing sits on before you fall for the dock.

Drive times are car routing on OpenStreetMap data (OSRM), typical conditions and no traffic, from the Keowee Falls clubhouse, pulled October 29, 2026. Places are the nearest named grocery, pharmacy and hospital on the map; we left out the dollar stores. The Cliffs' own page puts Keowee Falls at about 40 minutes to Clemson, about an hour to Greenville and an hour and a half to Asheville. Real drives land somewhere between the two.

Questions

What buyers ask about Keowee Falls

Answered in the journal; the full articles are below.

Can you live full-time on Lake Keowee?

Lake Keowee works selectively well as a full-time residence. Greenville functions as the service and cultural center, not the lake, with dining, healthcare, and social variety typically 45 to 75 minutes away. Buyers who thrive full-time value privacy, routine, and a home-centered lifestyle.

Full-Time vs Second Homes on Lake Keowee

Does home orientation matter on Lake Keowee?

Winter exposure matters more than summer views. South and southwest exposure changes year-round livability more than buyers expect, and north-facing homes often surprise buyers in January by feeling darker and colder than anticipated.

Are The Cliffs communities all the same?
